In 1950, the UN General Assembly designated December 10th as an annual celebration of Human Rights Day to raise awareness about human rights and share the Universal Declaration of Human Rights. In 2015, Houston will join major cities around the globe

The City of Houston, Rice University, IEDA Relief, and Youth for Human Rights are proud to co-host the first Houston Human Rights Day on December 5th, 2015 as an educational and fun community experience for all ages. The event is an opportunity for you to find out more about human rights and relevant local, national and international initiatives while enjoying a variety of food, entertainment and activities!

Recognize and celebrate the rights that people and organizations in Houston enjoy, and the history behind these rights.

Learn more about the Universal Declaration on Human Rights, human rights in the US and around the world, and relevant work carried out in Houston
