Our Adult Education Program Includes:

  • ESL for Jobs - Our instructors help you learn English in a relaxed environment. You will improve your language skills through interactive conversations and fun activities.
Our ESL classes integrate civic engagement and career preparedness. We also offer ESL for Professionals classes for those who hold a degree in their home country, on-site workplace literacy with employer partners, and integrated training with dual enrollment in career certification courses at local community colleges or with training partners. This is where adult learners improve English speaking, listening, reading, and writing skills to prepare them for the workforce and/or succeed in their jobs.

  • School to Work - We offer prep courses and practice tests to prepare you for the GED exam. GED stands for Graduate Equivalency Degree. A GED is a series of tests used to show if you have a high school level education or not. There are five areas you’re tested in including Language Arts Writing, Language Arts Reading, Social Studies, Science, and Math.
Additionally, we offer GED preparation classes with workforce training opportunities where students are enrolled simultaneously in GED and career certification courses with local community colleges or training partners. Through this program, students can receive job skills certification and develop skills necessary for postsecondary education and careers.

  • Digital Literacy – Our digital literacy classes teach the basic fundamentals of computer skills such as typing and mouse skills, how to use your computer/tablet, how to search the internet safely, how to set-up and use e-mail. Our higher-level classes will introduce students to Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint), Windows, Google Apps, and job searching tools like Work in Texas and resume building.

  • Student Support Services – Going back to school while working, taking care of family, and juggling life can be hard. Our Student Support Team is there to help with individualized academic planning, goal setting, information, and resource connection. At BakerRipley, you have a partner to help you navigate the bumps in the road so you can reach your dreams!
